BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – SIUE’s Claire Lovercheck (Florissant, Mo.) has been named the Ohio Valley Conference’s Goalkeeper of the Week after posting her second shutout of the year Sunday in a 0-0 tie at Saint Louis.
Sunday’s shutout was the ninth shutout of the senior’s career Sunday, making five saves, including two point blank stops in the final minute of the second overtime to stymie the Billikens. The five saves were just one off her season-high.
The Hazelwood Central product has made 16 saves and has a 1.26 goals against average for the season.
Lovercheck joins Jacksonville State’s Nathalee Lariviere and Chelsea Pelletier, who were named offensive and defensive players of the week respectively, as the OVC weekly award winners.
The award is the first women’s soccer weekly award won by SIUE, which is playing its first official season in the OVC.
