Lions Look To Rebound In Canada

 

St. Louis,  MO - The St. Louis Lions hit the road this weekend hoping to rebound from their  season opening 4-1 loss to the Des Moines Menace. The Lion travel to Canada this weekend to face off against WSA Winnipeg in back to back matches. The first match is Saturday at 7:00pm, and the second match is Sunday at 2:00pm.

STL In The MLS

Well, I’m back from a much needed vacation and what better time to report on how our St.Louis guys did in the MLS this past week, May 9- May 13. If you missed it, Brad Davis scored for Houston on Saturday which not only ended up the game winner and an amazing shot, but will also go down in history as the 1st goal scored at BBVA Compass Stadium, the Dynamo’s new home!  Here’s how the rest of the guys representing St.Louis did:

Lions Announce Player Signings

St. Louis, Mo. – The St. Louis Lions have announced the signing of three players to the 2012 roster. Kenny Kranz is returning for his third year with the club and will be joined by a couple of newcomers Diego Dos Santos and Marcelo Carreiro both from Brazil.

Kenny Kranz, Midfielder from Northern Illinois University, will be orchestrating once again in the Midfield for the Lions. In 2011 for NIU Kranz played in 19 matches, recording five points (1 goal and 3 assists). Kranz had two assists against Western Illinois in the NCAA Tournament First Round. Last year with the Lions, Kranz played in 13 games registering 7 points (3 goals and 1 assist) Continue reading

Lou Fusz Coach Alen Bradaric Back On Lions Defense

Bradaric has  been with the Lions since their inception in 2006 when he joined the club immediately after his senior year at Affton High School.

Call to the St.Louis Hall of Fame for Glavin

 

The St Louis Soccer Hall of Fame has announced its Class of 2012 and “The Pocket Rocket” Tony Glavin will be among those inducted on Sept 27th at the Annual St Louis Soccer Hall of Fame Banquet.

“I am honored to be recognized,” said Tony Glavin “Soccer has such a rich heritage in St Louis and the Hall of Fame is a great organization that keeps reminding us how important soccer is to St Louis and the influence we have all had on soccer in the United States.”

Sunset/Sunrise

If you are familiar with soccer in St.Louis, you know that it’s history runs deep. For more than 135 years St.Louis has been known as a soccer city, producing generations of world class players and coaches. The city has also hosted some great teams and important games. If you aren’t familiar with just how rich our history is in the sport, I highly recommend you purchase “Soccer Made In St.Louis” by David Lange.  You will be blown away by the information and feel a sense of pride in the city’s past and present.
